Firing Gemstones with PMC

No stone can be completely quaranteed, so please do a test firing with a small gemstone of the type you wish to use before setting it into your PMC3.

Alternatively, The PMC Studio sells Cubic Zirconia’s that are guaranteed to be safe when firing with PMC with either a torch or in a kiln.

This is a guide of what stones can be fired with PMC3. As all stones vary slightly in their make-up and cut, results may vary. The table below is an overview of stones fired at 1110F or 600C fro 30 mins.

Note that soft natural stones will definitely not work such as pearls, coral and Amber. Also stones sold as Spinel Doublet consist of two parts glued together and will not survive firing.

There are some differences between cabochons and faceted stones when fired with cabochons giving a better result.
